Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 26 – For years, globalisation and multilateralism have been among key drivers in fostering development and economic growth at the national, regional, and global levels. Despite some drawbacks and criticisms over time, multilateralism and economic interdependence should continue to be the foundation of mutual growth and prosperity.

This article underscores the importance of revitalising multilateralism and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries through economic diplomacy. In this sense, economic diplomacy serves as a tool for economies of different size to integrate and diversify their sources of growth, amplify economic potentials, and take full advantage of opportunities. It also calls for a more proactive role of governments and other stakeholders to ensure that growth and benefits fuelled by globalisation and multilateralism are inclusive, effective, and sustainable.
