Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 3 – Well-written articles include source’s quotes and highlight the background of the story, president of the Fresh News Training (FTC) Mar Yarith said in the FTC training session on 27 November 2021.

Journalists have a role to find or add background to the event occurs through an interview with additional sources or researches from various documents. In this regard, Yarith advised journalists to store important documents or information for later.

Sometimes, in order to stay up-to-date, journalists can first publish preliminary information or news updates, then later add the summary background of the story as well as the events and outcomes of the story.

Mar Yarith is a local veteran journalist, who has been working in the field of journalism for over 30 years. He has worked for various well-known foreign news agencies such as UPI, AP and VOA.

Yarith was also the founder and co-founder to several media outlets in Cambodia. Back then, he was the only Cambodian student majoring in journalism at the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland in the United States.
