Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 5 – Chinese state council and foreign minister Wang Yi reiterated China will encourage more Chinese tourists and investors to Cambodia and consider resuming all direct flights between the two countries.

Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi told Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn during the latter’s visit to China’s Zhejiang province from 3 to 5 December 2021.

On economic cooperation, the two foreign ministers noted with satisfaction the growing bilateral trade between the two countries amidst the COVID19 pandemic. They also anticipate the entry into force of the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) early next year, and are committed to taking full advantage of the two trade agreements in order to increase bilateral trade up to USD 10 billion by 2023.

Cambodian foreign minister expressed his appreciation for China’s commitment to increase the import of Cambodian agricultural products to the Chinese market.

The bilateral trade volume between Cambodia and China has increased to more than USD 8.931 million, an increase of 38.56% during 10 months in 2021 compared to 2020.
