Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 6 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), which will enter into force in January 2022, will bring wider market for Cambodian products, boosting the kingdom’s economy.

The premier spoke at the inauguration ceremony of National Road No. 11 and other roads in Prey Veng on Monday.

“As Cambodia-China FTA and the RCEP agreement will enter into force in January, Cambodia will strive to produce and boost exports”, the premier underlined.

Chinese ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian also announced that China will consider importing Cambodia's longan fruit and Pangasius catfish.

It is worth noting that after Cambodia-China signed the FTA, 95 percent of Cambodia's 340 export items will be exempted from tariff.

Virtually signed by 15 Asian countries in 2020, RCEP will significantly boost the region’s future growth prospects and contribute positively to the global economy, while serving as a supporting pillar to a strong multilateral trading system and promoting development in economies across the region.
