Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 15 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen urged car owners rush to pay duty in order to get 10% discount before the deadline on 31 December 2021, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh on Wednesday.

If owners do not pay their duties on time, they will suffer the consequences and face the law, the premier added.

Cambodia has appealed to car owners who take refuge under various license plates to declare imported duties since 19 September 2021. The 10% discount for left-hand drive vehicles will expire on 31 December 2021, while right-hand drive will expire on 30 June 2022.

As of 25 November 2021, the General Department of Customs and Excise received more than $17.3 million from duties collections of 1,640 vehicles for the kingdom’s revenue.
