Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 23 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reiterated that vehicles with unpaid duty are not allowed on the road and urged all the owners rush to pay duty to get 10% discount before the deadline on 31 December 2021, speaking at the inauguration of new office building of the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) on Thursday.

"Right-hand drive vehicles and car owners who take refuge under various license plates are not allowed to drive on the roads," the premier added.

Cambodia has appealed to car owners who take refuge under various license plates to declare imported duties since 19 September 2021. The 10% discount for left-hand drive vehicles will expire on 31 December 2021, while right-hand drive will expire on 30 June 2022.

As of 25 November 2021, the General Department of Customs and Excise collected more than $17.3 million from duties of 1,640 vehicles.
