Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 23 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen called on people not panic about the COVID19 Omicron variant although Cambodia so far detected eight cases of the new variant, speaking at the inauguration of new office building General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) on Thursday.

"Today (December 23), Cambodia reported four new cases of COVID19, of which two cases are Omicron variant. Therefore, the kingdom has so far detected a total of eight cases of Omicron variant,” Samdech underlined.

The premier added that all Omicron variant’s patients are currently being treated at the National Center for Tuberculosis in Phnom Penh.

To date, Cambodia has confirmed 120,434 cases of COVID19 with 116,834 recoveries and 3,006 deaths.
