Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 25 – President of Fresh News Training Center Mar Yarith explained the differences between News Feature and Feature Story.

The FTC president spoke in a training on Saturday.

News Feature is a long detailed piece of news writing that use delayed lead and it usually used to describe major events. Feature Story is a type of article that describe every details about the event. It does not involve excerpts from any news article or event, nor is it an announcement.

Feature Story, so-called Entertainment Story, is an article usually written to inform readers about strange things related to entertainment, unimaginable stories, the real sadness of human life that reflects the society and so on.

Both types of articles use the same style of writing and begin the story writing with delayed lead.

Mar Yarith is a local veteran journalist, who has been working in the field of journalism for over 30 years. He has worked for various well-known foreign news agencies such as UPI, AP and VOA. Yarith was also the founder and co-founder to several media outlets in Cambodia. Back then, he was the only Cambodian student majoring in journalism at the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland in the United States.
