Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 29 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen considered making laws to determine the retirement age of Cambodian prime minister, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the administration building of the Ministry of National Defense on Wednesday.

“After I resigns from the prime minister position, I will fulfill one’s desire to make the laws to determine the retirement age of Cambodian prime minister. But we can not limit the mandate of premiership,” the premier underlined.

“The retirement age of prime minister should be between 70 and 72 years old, but Sam Rainsy is already 73,” the premier added.

The premier’s statement came after the former leader of the court-dissolved opposition party Sam Rainsy requested a law to determine age 70 as retirement age of prime minister and only two terms for the office.

On 8 October 2021, the Royal Government decided to draft a law to determine a single citizenship for the Cambodian prime minister, the National Assembly president, the Senate president and the Constitutional Council president.
