Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 11 - The Global Peace Federation (UPF) supported the outcome of the official visit of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen to Myanmar last week, director general of the UPF Yun Young-ho spoke in a virtual meeting with premier Hun Sen on Tuesday.

The UPF director general called the premier’s visit to Myanmar a "peace visit" and he congratulated the three successful outcomes, including the declaration of ceasefire, the support for ASEAN chair’s special envoy, and the humanitarian reliefs without discrimination.

During the premier’s visit, Myanmar’s senior general Min Aung Hlaing informed Cambodian premier Hun Sen that the Myanmar government had declared a five-month ceasefire with all Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) until the end of February 2022 and decided to further extend it until end of 2022. He assured the facilitation of the visit of the special envoy to Myanmar and to meet with all parties concerned including EAOs taking into account of the prevailing situation in Myanmar.

Yun Young-ho congratulated Samdech Hun Sen for assuming the ASEAN chairmanship 2022.
