Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 12 – On 11 January 2022, Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn had a telephone conversation with Japanese foreign minister Hayashi Yoshimasa.

“Once again, I expressed my sincere appreciation to Japan for their ongoing support for Cambodia's development as well as our ASEAN Chairmanship this year,” Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn wrote on his Facebook on Wednesday.

“Hayashi acknowledged progress from Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen’s visit to Myanmar, and commended Cambodia's efforts in helping Myanmar resolve its issues. We concurred that the full implementation of the 5-Point Consensus is at the heart of this endeavor,” he added.

Prak Sokhonn continued, “I also affirmed our commitment to working closely with Dr. Yohei Sasakawa, Japan's special envoy for national reconciliation in Myanmar. I hope to receive Hayashi in Cambodia in the near future when the COVID19 situation improves.”
