Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 23 – Malaysian prime minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob arrived in Cambodia on Wednesday (23 Feb) for a two-day official visit from 23-24 February 2022.

“During the visit, Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will be received in a royal audience by Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace. The Malaysia prime minister will also pay courtesy calls on Cambodian president of the Senate Say Chhum, and Cambodian president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin,” according to the press release dated 21 February 2022.

“Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen and Malaysian prime minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will have a meeting to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation, including trade and investment, socio-economic, defense and security, and the post-COVID19 socio-economic recovery, and also exchange views on regional and international issues of common interests and concerns. At the end of the meeting, the two prime ministers will have a joint press conference.”

“Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will also lay wreathe at the Independence Monument and pay tribute at the Royal Memorial Statue of Cambodian late king-father Norodom Sihanouk.”

“As 2022 marks the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between the two countries, the official visit of Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will be a significant milestone to further strengthen the existing good bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks for mutual benefits of the two nations.”
