Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 24 – Malaysian prime minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob and a high delegation departed from Cambodia after concluding a fruitful two-day official visit from 23-24 February 2021.

During the visit, Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob paid a royal call on Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace.

The Malaysia prime minister also paid courtesy calls on Cambodian president of the Senate Say Chhum, and Cambodian president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin.

Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen and Malaysian prime minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob held a meeting to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation, including trade and investment, socio-economic, defense and security, and the post-COVID19 socio-economic recovery, and also exchange views on regional and international issues of common interests and concerns. At the end of the meeting, the two prime ministers held a joint press conference.
Dato Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob also laid wreathe at the Independence Monument and pay tribute at the Royal Memorial Statue of Cambodian late king-father Norodom Sihanouk.

“As 2022 marks the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between the two countries, the official visit of Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will be a significant milestone to further strengthen the existing good bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks for mutual benefits of the two nations,” according to the press release dated 21 February 2022.
