Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 28 – Cambodian information minister Khieu Kanharith reacted to some Western countries for criticizing Cambodia on freedom of expression and press freedom, yet they banned two Russian state media outlets.

“When Russia-Ukraine war broke out, those countries who baselessly accuse Cambodia for suppressing freedom of expression and press freedom quickly ban all Russian media outlets,” the information minister wrote on his Facebook on Monday.

On 27 February 2022, the European Union (EU) announced the bans of Russia's RT and Sputnik contents in its member states, according to the statement by European Commission president Ursula Von Der Leyen.

The Russian medias’ YouTube channels were also blocked in some European countries. Facebook also took similar moves.
