Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 15 – Japanese ambassador to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro praised Cambodia’s success in overcoming the past tragedy and her active involvement in the international community.

Japanese ambassador addressed at the welcoming ceremony of Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces (JMSDF) to Sihanoukville, Cambodia on Tuesday.

"I am very impressed with Cambodia’s success in overcoming her tragic past and actively contributing to the international community, and I am proud that Japan has played a main role in achieving peace in Cambodia,” the ambassador underlined.

Mikami Masahiro added that he is confident that Cambodia-Japan will continue to move forward as a trusted partner and work closely together to address challenges.

The year 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the deployment of Japanese peacekeeper to Cambodia, which the first time Japan sent troops abroad, known as the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (PKOs).
