Sihanoukville (FN), Mar. 16 – The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces (JMSDF) paid a visit to Sihanoukville’s Ream Naval Base on Wednesday (16 Mar).

The visit of JMSDF was led by Japanese commander of the 1st Indo-Pacific Mine Action Division Noguchi Yasushi and Japanese ambassador to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro. The visit was warmly welcomed by admiral Ouk Seiha, Cambodian navy deputy commander.

Ouk Seiha accompanied the Japanese ambassador and Noguchi Yasushi to inspect the achievements and progress made at Ream Naval Base and the navy workshop facility.

On that occasion, the two leaders pledged to strengthen Cambodia-Japan navy cooperation, as well as cooperation between the National Committee for Maritime Security (NCMS) and the JMSDF.

On 15 March 2022, Cambodia warmly welcomed the docking of JS Uraga (MST-463), the lead ship of the Uraga-class mine countermeasure vessels; and JS Hirado (MSO-305), the second ship of the Awaji-class minesweepers of the JMSDF.
