Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 16 – The World Bank pledged to promote strong and close cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia and to support the kingdom in achieving its goal of being a high-middle-income country.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a courtesy call paid by World Bank vice president for East Asia and the Pacific Manuela V. Ferro on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace on Wednesday.

According to premier Hun Sen’s personal secretary Eang Sophalleth, Manuela V. Ferro praised and highly appreciated Cambodia’s effective COVID19 control, her successful vaccination campaign in the Asia-Pacific region, and full reopening of the kingdom.

On that occasion, Samdech thanked the World Bank for strengthening outstanding cooperation as well as great partnership, adding that what the World Bank can continue to do is to strengthen the partnership and promote all possible projects to contribute to Cambodia’s economy.

Premier Hun Sen added that as a rotating chairman of ASEAN, Cambodia wants to create a favorable situation in the framework of ASEAN and ASEAN Plus 5, as well as an outstanding intra-ASEAN travel.
