Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 18 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen encouraged the speeding up of the reopening of the Cambodia and Hungary embassies in order to strengthen and expand close cooperation in the future.

The premier spoke in a handover ceremony of Hungary-aided AstraZeneca vaccine on Friday (18 Mar) at the Peace Palace.

“Cambodia firmly believes that the relation between Cambodia and Hungary will be further tightened, and Cambodia is ready to continue to strengthen and expand close cooperation in the future,” the premier underlined.

“Taking this opportunity, I would also like to encourage the speeding up of the reopening of the embassies in both countries, that will open a new page in history, to fully and deeply promote Cambodia-Hungary diplomatic relation.”

On that occasion, chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Hungary in Cambodia Istvan Bakos said that as a traditional friend and Cambodia’s ally, Hungary is pleased to support Cambodia’s effort in fighting the COVID19 and mitigating its adverse effects on the livelihood of the Cambodian people.

“This donation of more than half million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine is another new step. We would like to highlight our commitment to support Cambodia in the development of the country for our mutual benefit. We believed that help in need is the help indeed,” Istvan Bakos added.

It is worth noting that Cambodia-Hungary diplomatic relation has been established for 66 years.
