Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 22 – In his capacity as ASEAN chair’s special envoy on Myanmar, Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn met with three Myanmar’s ministers on his first day of working visit on 21 March 2022.

The three ministers are union minister for foreign affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin, union minister for international cooperation and chairman of the Task Force on ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance U Ko Ko Hlaing, and union minister for the Ministry of the Office of the Union Government and chairman of the National Solidarity and Peace-making Committee lieutenant general Yar Pyae.

This meeting was held after Prak Sokhonn paid a courtesy call on Myanmar’s senior general Min Aung Hlaing, chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC).

“Both sides discussed and exchanged views on the implementation and progress of the ASEAN's Five-Point Consensus, following the visit of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen in early January this year,” according to Foreign Ministry’s Facebook page on 21 March 2022.

Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn led a delegation to pay a working visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on Monday (Mar 21) for a three-day working visit from 21-23 March 2022.

The first visit of the special envoy aimed at creating a favorable condition leading to the end of violence as well as the utmost restraint by all parties; distributing humanitarian assistance with the support and coordination from ASEC and AHA Centre; and encouraging the political consultations / dialogues among all parties concerned, according to the press release dated 18 March 2022.
