Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 23 – Myanmar's senior general Min Aung Hlaing considered allowing ASEAN chair’s special envoy on Myanmar to meet former Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi in the future.

ASEAN chair’s special envoy, Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn, spoke in the press conference on his three-day official visit to Myanmar, held at Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday (23 Mar).

The minister said, “when I asked [Min Aung Hlaing] about the case of Aung San Suu Kyi, his response was open.”

“The special envoy could meet other important people other than Aung San Suu Kyi,” Sokhonn quoted Min Aung Hlaing as saying.

Since the legal case of Suu Kyi is ongoing, she is not allowed to meet anyone, according to the Myanmar’s laws.

Special envoy Prak Sokhonn told Myanmar's senior general that he adheres to the ASEAN principles, meaning that he will not interfere in Myanmar's domestic affairs.
