Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 23 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen praised Cambodian minister of land management, urban planning and construction Chea Sophara for setting up a working group to crack down illegal logging and land grabbing surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake, and seizing back more than 60,000 hectares.

The premier spoke at the annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on Wednesday (23 Mar).

"I appreciate actions taken by relevant parties under the leadership of minister Chea Sophara to stop crimes committed at the Tonle Sap Lake. So far, we have seized more than 60,000 hectares," the premier underlined.

On that occasion, Samdech also blamed the provincial governors surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake for allowing illegal logging and land grabbing.
