Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 28 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reaffirmed that Cambodian citizens are going to enjoy Khmer New Year holidays this year after two-year suspension due to COVID19 outbreak.

The premier spoke in an inauguration ceremony of Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT Building at Ang Duong Hospital on Monday.

"After two-year suspension, I can proudly say that the Khmer New Year this year will be a chance for citizens to enjoy their holidays. COVID19 is no longer the biggest challenge, but Russia-Ukraine war is as it affects the price of gasoline," the premier underlined.

Strong herd immunity allows Cambodia to fully reopen and organise national celebrations, including the Khmer New Year holidays, according to the premier.

Cambodia has so far vaccinated more than 92 percent of the total population. Nearly 8 million people have received third dose and more than 1.1 million received the fourth shot.
