Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 28 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced not to appoint anyone who is technologically illiterate in the government leadership role, in particular those who are unable to perform smart phone technology.

The premier spoke in an inauguration ceremony of Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT Building at Ang Duong Hospital on Monday.

“In this generation, all Cambodian high-ranking officers and civil servants should learn how to use technology. In the past, I used the term computer illiteracy, but now I use IT illiteracy instead. I cannot appoint those people who do not know how to use technology. For instance, how can you [provincial governor] organizes the meeting if you do not know how to use Whatsapp, Viber, Line, Telegram, WeChat, or Zoom Meeting,” the premier underlined.

Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035" sets out a long-term vision to build a vibrant digital economy and society by laying the foundations for promoting digital adoption and transformation in all sectors of society, to promote new economic growth and improve social welfare in the new normal.
