Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 29 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) secretary general Louise Mushikiwabo agreed to further strengthen cooperation in order to promote trade and investment, speaking during a courtesy audience on Tuesday at the Peace Palace.

According to the premier’s personal secretary Eang Sophalleth, Louise Mushikiwabo said that the Cambodian economy is indeed potential for trade development of French-speaking countries. She also briefed effective outcomes of the meeting with investors from 24 countries, including Cambodian investors.

Louise added that her visit to Cambodia marks a starting point for future cooperation in the kingdom’s growing sectors, including investment, economy, and trade. Louise also expressed her deep gratitude to the premier and the Royal Government for organizing the visit of the delegation of International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

In response, premier Hun Sen congratulated Louise Mushikiwabo on the successful meeting with the investors.

Samdech Hun Sen said that the Cambodia eyes cooperation in economic, trade and investment and that the two sides should work together to seize the opportunity.

On that occasion, the premier also informed Louise that as the rotating chair of ASEAN, he wanted to promote the implementation of ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in order to boost economic, trade and investment as well as tourism corridors in ASEAN region.
