Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 31 – Cambodia had produced 2,275 kilograms of gold in the first nine months of the gold mining business in O'Khvav, Mondulkiri Province.

The premier spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the Choam Chao flyover and tunnel on Thursday (Mar 31) in Phnom Penh.

"In nine months, we produced 2,275 kilograms of gold and that only counts in Okhvav, Mondulkiri. We also start to explore our natural resources for exploitations to serve country's needs," the premier underlined.

Following 14 years of feasibility study, Cambodia approved a gold mine and refinery factory in Mondulkiri's O'Khvau area, owned by Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia) Limited.

O'Khvau Gold Project officially started on 21 June 2021. It is estimated to produce approximately three tons of pure gold per year in the first eight years.
