Siem Reap (FN), Apr. 4 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that some developed countries’ world heritage sites have been removed from the UNESCO’s World Heritage List due to violations of guidelines.

“If we violate the guidelines, we will lose our world heritage statuses.”

“Cambodia has lots of real estate development areas. I want to remind real estate investors who criticized that Siem Reap cannot be developed due to the height restriction of buildings. Please do not compare real estate market in Siem Reap to those in other provinces.”

The premier's remarks came after a real estate expert criticized the height restriction of the Angkor site.

Premier Hun Sen reassured Cambodian partners such as France, Japan and UNESCO that Cambodia will strictly adhere to the operational guidelines for the implementation of the world heritage convention.
