Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 11 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen requested Lao People’s Democratic Republic to promote cross-border trade activities, as Cambodia lifted mask mandatory for provinces bordering Laos.

The premier spoke during a courtesy call by a newly appointed ambassador of Lao PDR to Cambodia Buakeo Phumvongsay on Monday (Apr 11) at the Peace Palace.

According to premier’s personal secretary Eang Sophalleth, the ambassador expressed his gratitude to people and government of Cambodia for assisting Laos in the fight against COVID19 through donation of vaccines, buses, and funds.

The ambassador also pledged to further expand the Cambodia-Lao relations and cooperation to the next level based on the existing cooperation.

In response, the premier welcomed and congratulated Phumvongsay on his appointment as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Cambodia.

Premier Hun Sen also informed the ambassador about lifting mask mandatory in provinces bordering Laos. In this regard, the premier requested ambassador to review and promote cross-border trade activities and other potential areas of cooperation.
