Sihanoukville (FN), Apr. 16 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that despite the effects caused by the COVID19 pandemic and the Russia-Urkaine war, more people are celebrating and traveling during the Khmer New Year 2022.

The premier spoke in the coronation ceremony of "Preah Thong Neang Neak" Statue in Sihanoukville Province on Saturday (16 Apr).

"More people are traveling during these holidays despite the COVID19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war. Number of tourists nationwide reached 2 million within the first two days of Khmer New Year, which outnumbered the figure in the pre-COVID19 period,” the premier underlined.

Samdech continued that Cambodian citizens this year are able to stay in high-star hotels and visit tourist sites nationwide, which is a testament to the peace and development of the kingdom.

In addition, premier Hun Sen called on all citizens to obey traffic laws, especially on the occasion of the New Year holidays. He also called on the authorities to ensure security for people during the holidays.
