Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the Royal Government of Cambodia considered to lift mask mandate for more provinces after lower COVID19 cases were confirmed in post-Khmer New Year period.

The premier spoke in a special voice message on Sunday (24 Apr).

"The policy [no mask mandate] can be achieved because of strong herd immunity through complete vaccination. However, I would like to call on citizens to get at least three doses of vaccine so that we can lift some preventive measures including gathering restrictions and mask mandate," the premier underlined.

Cambodia has so far vaccinated nearly 93 percent of the total population. More than 8 million people have received third dose and more than 1.2 million received the fourth shot.

On 10 April 2022, Cambodia decided to place four provinces no longer required to wear masks. The four provinces are Ratanakkiri, Mondulkiri, Stung Treng and Preah Vihear.
