Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 25 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen affirmed that donations of additional 20 million doses of COVID19 vaccine will arrive in Cambodia subsequently, speaking at the handover ceremony of more than 1 million doses of COVID19 vaccine from Italy to Cambodia on Monday (25 Apr) at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh.

“An additional 20 million doses of COVID19 vaccine will continue to arrive as our friends promised to donate to the kingdom. Currently, we have more than 11 million doses in stock,” the premier underlined.

On that occasion, Samdech also called on his compatriots to get third dose of COVID19 vaccine as more than 6 million people have yet received the shot, adding that the low COVID19 confirmed cases were achieved due to strong herd immunity.

China is the biggest supplier of COVID19 vaccines to Cambodia, followed by Japan, US, UK, Australia, Poland, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Italy.

Cambodia has so far vaccinated nearly 93 percent of the total population. More than 8 million people have received third dose and more than 1.4 million received the fourth shot.
