Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 28 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reiterated that we shall jointly protect peace at all costs. He warns that "do not shout for peace when war already started."

The premier spoke in a meeting with Cambodian athletes, held on Thursday (28 Apr) at Koh Pich, Phnom Penh.

Without peace, participating in SEA Game is not possible, not to mention hosting the game, the premier added.

“We must jointly safeguard the priceless peace at any cost if we want to develop sport sector or other sectors. Do not shout for peace when the war started. For instance, one could not shout for peace after the coup d'etat in 1970,” the premier underlined.

Samdech continued, Cambodia is able to achieve an annual economic growth of 7.5 percent over the last two decades and upgrade herself from lower middle-income country to upper middle-income country by 2030. These achievements are the result from peace.

On that occasion, premier Hun Sen also set the Russian-Ukraine war as the example of the value of peace.
