Phnom Penh (FN), May 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen recalled the case on physical abuse between tycoon Heng Sier and a former MYTV emcee Mean Pich Rita, who is also a university student.

The premier spoke in the meeting with 1,753 Grade A high school students in Phnom Penh.

“It was not necessary for me to intervene if this case is just an affair case, but it was the injustice. It appeared to happen on an innocent girl who was then arrested following complaints made by a few powerful tycoons,” the premier underlined.

“How could I keep quiet? I am not a brute. As Cambodia’s prime minister, I must be responsible for justice seeking of my citizen,” the premier added.

"The tycoon's son-in-law bribed my lawyer (my lawyer reported) by saying that the prime minister was on the tycoon's side. The voice messages were forwarded to each other. So, I asked my lawyer to work on coordinating the release on bail for the victim,” the premier continued.

“If I did not interfere, this female victim might be still in prison,” the premier added.

At the end, the tycoon confessed that he abused the female victim and provided fake information.

Pich Rita was arrested on 11 May 2021, allegedly charged with stealing a smart phone and stabbing Tycoon Heng Sier with a knife. Pich Rita filed a complaint against Tycoon Heng Sier for the alleged rape in a car.
