Phnom Penh (FN), May 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said he shed tears in front of the Japanese prime minister Kishida Fumio while watching a music video made by a Japanese artist, who visited Cambodia twice in 1989 and 2013 respectively.

The premier spoke in the meeting with 1,753 Grade A high school students in Phnom Penh.

“Two weeks ago, at the banquet hosted by premier Kishida in Kumamoto, Japan, I shed tears after watching the MV made by a Japanese artist, who came to Cambodia when the kingdom plagued by civil wars. Old photos of Cambodia, in particular during the State of Cambodia period, were shown in the song, including the schools with leaky roofs. How were our students? Then I shed tears in front of the Japanese prime minister,” the premier underlined.

“Today, 3 May, I shed tears again in the car today after seeing an interview between BTV and grade A students. I cannot image that Cambodia has come this far from the darkest age of Pol Pot Regime,” he continued.

Samdech Hun Sen added that he is proud to see the positive changes of the next generation.
