Phnom Penh (FN), May 12 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen criticized former leader of the Cambodian opposition party convict Sam Rainsy for failure to grab a golden opportunity.

Premier Hun Sen said Rainsy should have sent him condolence letter over the loss of the premier’s elder brother Hun Neng.

The premier spoke during a meeting with Cambodians living in the United States and Canada on Thursday (May 12).

"Because of hatred, he [Sam Rainsy] forgot what I did good thing to him in the past. Thank him for not sending the letter. If he sent the condolence letter over the loss of my elder brother, it is like pushing me to the wall. If I do not accept [letter], it means that I do not respect him. However, if I accept the letter, it is a positive sign for him to return to Cambodia,” the premier underlined.

“This guy is stupid and thank you for being stupid. You have political opportunities, but due to your hatred, you did not congratulate a Cambodian female athlete for winning a gold medal. When my mother in-law died and later my elder brother, you did not pay tribute to them. Therefore, you shall accept the consequences,” the premier continued.

On this occasion, the premier lauded former president of the court-dissolved opposition party Kem Sokha for sending a condolence letter and paying tribute to Samdech Udom Tep Nhean Hun Neng.

The premier added, at least, even though he [Kem Sokha] and I have different political tendency, I respect what he did. He sent me a message via Whatsapp to confirm whether he is able to pay tribute to my elder brother or not. In response, I invited him to participate and we talked for four hours.
