Phnom Penh (FN), May 18 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen has requested Indian prime minister Narendra Modi to speed up the process of signing a free trade agreement between the two countries and establish direct flights.

The premier’s request was made during a meeting between the two leaders on Wednesday via video conference.

Premier Hun Sen also requested for direct flights from India to Phnom Penh and from India to Siem Reap to boost tourism between the two countries as the kingdom is now open to fully-vaccinated tourists and offers favorable entry requirement for international travelers.

On that occasion, Samdech also highlighted that Cambodia-India trade volume increased by approximately USD 300 million in 2021.
