Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 10 – Leader of the extremist opposition party Sam Rainsy said the court-dissolved CNRP former leader Kem Sokha committed a serious mistake for not going to vote for Candlelight Party.

Sam Rainsy spoke in an interview with Radio Free Asia on Thursday (Jun 9).

Kem Sokha did not cast a vote in the 5th mandate communal election, saying there is no political party of his choice. Analysts believed that Sokha’s announcement ahead of the election aimed to inspire other former CNRP supporters not to go to vote.

During the interview, Sam Rainsy criticized Kem Sokha for insulting former opposition supporters and democrats by not going to vote.

Over the past time, the two former political partners have attacked each other. Kem Sokha, through his close associates, used social media rhetoric to show that Sokha and Rainsy are no longer as one, whereas the Candlelight Party is trying to win over former CNRP supporters.

Muth Chantha, who is a confidant of Kem Sokha, lately announced on his social media that Candlelight Party always propagated that the Candlelight and the CNRP are as one. Such action is a pure deception and fraud. It also violated the amendments to the law on political parties, the election law, the NEC rules and procedures, and the Supreme Court ruling.
