Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 10 – The opposition party activist So Naro reacted to a criticism made by the leader of extremist opposition Sam Rainsy over Kem Sokha’s refusal to vote for the Candlelight Party.

"In every country in the world, there is no case of the president of one [political] party volunteers to vote for another party. If it does really exist, it would mean that the president of that party is stupid and that would mean he betrays his own party,” Naro wrote on his Facebook on Friday.

“In fact, in Cambodia, there is one and only special case that a person who pretends to be the acting president of one party called on his supporters to vote for another party,” said Naro.

“Only a stupid person can say without being ashamed that Kem Sokha, former president of the CNRP, committed a serious mistake for not going to vote. Kem Sokha does not have full political freedom, and the CNRP does not exist in the voting list. Does Rainsy want Kem Sokha to betray his own party like Rainsy did? Rainsy is not a psycho but also a toxic person,” Naro added.

During an interview with Radio Free Asia on Thursday (Jun 9), Sam Rainsy criticized Kem Sokha for insulting former opposition supporters and democrats by not going to vote.
