Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 11 – On 10 June 2022, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Cambodia held the state reception on the occasion of Russia Day.

Senior minister Ly Thuch, first vice president of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority took part in the event as the main guest.

The reception was also attended by esteemed representatives of the Royal Government, Senate and National Assembly, central ministries and institutions, foreign diplomatic missions, as well as the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces command, business structures, Association of Former Cambodian Students from Soviet Union and Russia, media, Russian Orthodox Church.

In his welcoming address Russian ambassador Anatoly Borovik noted the importance of this national holiday, Russia’s connecting role between Europe and Asia, its great contribution to the victory over Nazism during the Second World War (1939-1945), as well as in scientific, technical and cultural achievements. The head of the Russian diplomatic mission emphasized our country's long-standing friendly relations with Cambodia, assistance to its reconstruction after the overthrow of the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime, and the current development of bilateral engagement in various fields, as well as expressed confidence in the further building up cooperation.

When delivering his speech, the senior minister marked the dynamic development of Russian-Cambodian multifaceted cooperation, which for 66 years of the existence of the diplomatic relations has been solidified by mutual support, understanding, and close humanitarian contacts.

The guests enjoyed the virtual photo exhibition demonstrating Russia’s natural beauty, as well as the short music performance prepared by family members of the officials of the Embassy.
