Banteay Meanchey (FN), Jul. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reminded provincial governors surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake to effectively allocate lands for the people who have been living and cultivating around the areas for a long time.

The premier spoke on the 18th National Fish Day, held on Friday (Jul 1) in Banteay Meanchey province.

"I still give advice on how many lands should be cut from zone 3, from zone 2 and 1, and from the zone that cannot be allocated. It must be made clear to avoid complications and unsolvable issues,” the premier underlined.

On 27 May 2022, the Royal Government of Cambodia classified the Tonle Sap Lake area into three zones as follows: zone 1 is the land that can be used for usufruct and ownership; zone 2 for usufruct only; and zone 3 for neither usufruct nor ownership.
