Banteay Meanchey (FN), Jul. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni will preside over the National Arbor Day, which will be held on 9 July in Battambang province.

The premier spoke on the 18th National Fish Day, held on Friday (Jul 1) in Banteay Meanchey province.

"On 9 July, our king will plant seedlings in Battambang," the premier underlined.

The premier continued, the celebration of the National Fish Day and the National Arbor Day were suspended for two years due to the COVID19 pandemic. Fortunately, the kingdom’s COVID19 effective control allows her to resume the celebration of these national days.

The National Arbor Day was first celebrated in Cambodia in 1952, initiated by the late king father Norodom Sihanouk with a purpose to encourage people to plant and take care of trees.
