Banteay Meanchey (FN), Jul. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen warned to arrest anyone who spreads false information on COVID19 situation through social media.

The premier spoke Friday at the 18th National Fish Day in Banteay Meanchey province.

A TikTok user was arrested for uploading the outdated video of COVID19 patient died in Koh Kong province. Huv Ou Khong was arrested in Tbong Khmum province on 30 June 2022. His action has created social fear and could lead to social chaos.

"Anyone who takes the COVID19 crisis as a joke to create social chaos will be arrested. Ou Khong already was arrested and handcuffed," the premier warned.

“Posting false information to create public fear is not a freedom of expression,” the premier underlined, adding that NGOs and human rights organizations shall clearly differentiate “incitement” from “freedom of expression”.

Samdech warned that the incitement or creating fake to cause social chaos is unacceptable and intolerable.
