Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 21 – Myanmar decided not to send any representative to attend the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings, to be held in Phnom Penh at the end of July.

Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn spoke during an interview with the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP).

Prak Sokhonn said, even though Myanmar waived his right to attend these meetings, Myanmar will not lose her seat in ASEAN, adding that Cambodia does not give up on finding solutions to bring Myanmar back to ASEAN.

"Myanmar's response is still the same. There will be non-political representative appointed to attend the meetings," Sokhonn underlined.

According to secretary of state of Cambodian Foreign Ministry Luy David, although Myanmar did not appoint any non-political representatives to the meetings, Myanmar will attend the meetings of the director-general and senior official’s levels.

The 55th AMM and Related Meetings will take place from 31 July to 6 August 2022 in Phnom Penh in physical format.
