Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 24 – Japanese defence minister Nobuo Kishi sent a congratulation letter to Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on the great success of the 7th ASEAN-Japan Defence Ministers' Informal Meeting.

"Please accept my congratulations on the great success of the 7th ASEAN-Japan Defence Ministers' Informal Meeting, I would like to express sincere appreciation for your effort and leadership as the ASEAN chairmanship," according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Sunday (Jul 24).

"And thank you most sincerely for taking the time to meet with me despite your busy schedule. As mentioned at the meeting, Japan-Cambodia relationship is just at the best level ever. Our bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges have continued to progress including a visit by Hun Manet, port calls in Cambodia by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. I am committed to maintaining and strengthening a Free and Open Indo-Pacific based on the outcome of my visit."

"I am deeply grateful for you and the Cambodian government for the warm hospitality during my stay. Please accept my best wishes for your good health and every success."
