Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 17 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reaffirmed to terminate all exclusive contracts between internet service provider and borey owners in order to have a fair competition and ensure residents have access to mobile cellular and internet services.

The premier spoke in the graduation ceremony of students of Puthisastra University, held on Wednesday (Aug 17) at OCIC, Phnom Penh’s Chroy Chongvar district.

“Telecom minister Chea Vandeth announced to end the monopoly of the telecommunication company with borey. Communicating with our officials who are living in Borey is difficult and that is because the borey owners signed an exclusive contract with an internet service provider. I already confirmed that the government will interfere to terminate the contract; the government needs a competitive market,” the premier underlined.

On that occasion, Samdech also advised telecommunication companies to speed up the installation of their networks and services and asked for cooperation from borey owners to offer good internet service to residents.
