Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 17 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced that Phnom Tamau area will be put as protected area and is currently being replanted with luxury seedling.

Reforestation in Phnom Tamau will be done carefully and properly, not just for social media attention.

The premier spoke in the graduation ceremony of students of Puthisastra University, held on Wednesday (Aug 17) at OCIC, Phnom Penh’s Chroy Chongvar district.

“We do not plant trees to post on Facebook. We need to plant them [luxury seeds] properly. Then, the Forestry Administration has to take care of them in the future,” the premier underlined.

The premier added, after granting permit to private sector to develop the area, there was a debate between a development group and a conservation group. As a result, the government decided to transform it into a conservation zone under the management of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
