Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 19 – Abdulla Shahid, president of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), who is concomitantly minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Maldives, will pay a working visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on 21-22 August 2022.

"During the visit, Abdulla Shahid will pay courtesy calls on Cambodian president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin, and Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen. The president of the 76th Session of the UNGA will also have a meeting with Cambodian delegate minister and standing secretary of state of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ouch Borith," according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Friday (Aug 19).

"Abdulla’s visit will emphasize the constructive roles played by Cambodia in the UN, especially in its capacity as the ASEAN Chair, along with the roles of ASEAN and the UN in reinforcing multilateralism to address global issues, including climate change, post-pandemic recovery and sustainable development. Revitalizing the UN and strengthening the ASEAN-UN partnership will also be among the topics for discussion."
