Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 23 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said the establishment of the Department of Vietnamese Studies at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) would give benefits to people, not the loss.

The premier spoke at the graduation ceremony of students of Asia Euro University, held on Tuesday (Aug 23) at OCIC, Phnom Penh’s Chroy Chongvar district.

“We established the Department of Vietnamese Studies for our students who intend to do business and pursue their education in Viet Nam. French or English or other foreign languages always benefit the learners. They lose nothing from picking up a new language,” the premier underscored.

The Department of Vietnamese Studies in the RUPP offers three bachelor's degrees namely (1) Vietnamese Studies; (2) Vietnamese Translation and Interpretation; and (3) Vietnamese Business Communication.

RUPP not only teaches Vietnamese, but also French, English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai and other foreign languages in the future.
