Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 23 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen advised to have proper recruitment of the future civil servants and shall not seriously affect the national budget, speaking at the graduation ceremony of students of Asia Euro University, held on Tuesday (Aug 23) at OCIC, Phnom Penh’s Chroy Chongvar district.

The premier raised Sri Lanka as an example of spending too much national budget on the civil servants, which led to the economic crisis and the overthrown government.

“Normally, the spending [national budget] on civil servants should not exceed four percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, according to the study report, Sri Lanka spends on civil servants 20-30 percent of the GDP,” the premier underlined.

Regarding lesson learnt from the Sri Lanka’s crisis, Samdech advised to cut down the unnecessary expenses.
