Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 12 – The French lawyers representing Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen has issued a press release on the Paris tribunal judiciaire’s ruling regarding Sam Rainsy’s defamation case.

“The accusation that Mr. Hun Sen was the mastermind behind the assassination of the two political cases and that he concealed the circumstances of the assassination is damaging the honor and reputation of the plaintiffs (Mr. Hun Sen). Therefore, this accusation must be considered as defamation of Hun Sen,” according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Oct 12).

The press release continued that “regarding the evidences provided by Sam Rainsy, the court considered that they did not contain specific elements demonstrating that the cause of the accident was an explosion.”

“More specifically, the court noted that (...) the provision of a poor-quality photograph of the wreckage of the aircraft cannot demonstrate, in the absence of expertise, that the destruction of the helicopter was due to an explosion rather than a fall. Thus, it was clearly judged that the accusations of Sam Rainsy were unwarranted,” it added.
