Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 17 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen requested participants at the graduation ceremony to pay tribute to the 11 children who died in the ferry accident in Leuk Daek district, Kandal province.   

The premier spoke at the graduation ceremony of over 6,000 students of National University of Management (NUM), held on Monday (Oct 17) at OCIC, Phnom Penh’s Chroy Chongvar district.

"I would like to ask all participants to stand up and pay tribute to the children who had passed in the boat accident in Kandal province,” the premier underscored.

"Our ASEAN region in 2022 has been through three tragedies already. First, the Indonesian football riot that turned into a stampede. Second, Thailand’s mass shooting at a Children's day-care centre, and lastly, the ferry accident in Cambodia’s Kandal province,” the premier said.  

Samdech Hun Sen expressed his deep gratitude to Cambodian king and queen mother for providing assistances and mourning with the victims’ families as well as thank all donors for their aids supporting the victims’ families.
